Is there Uber in San Juan del Sur?

No. Uber does not operate in Nicaragua at all, so there is no Uber in San Juan del Sur and no app to open when you land. That surprises most people, and it is worth knowing before you arrive rather than at midnight outside the airport.

Delivery from C$184 in town and C$276 to the outer beaches. Every fee is agreed before we set off.

What people use instead

  • Local taxis, which you flag down or call. There is no meter, so you agree the fare before you get in — that is normal here and not anyone trying it on.
  • Pre-booked private drivers for anything longer than a hop across town, especially airport runs.
  • Walking, for most of the town centre. San Juan del Sur is small and flat along the bay.
  • The beaches are the exception. Maderas, Remanso and Marsella are a real drive on a rough road, and that is where having a number saved matters.

How booking a ride works without an app

  • You message a number and describe the trip. We reply with a price and a time — no account, no card, no app to install.
  • Because there is no meter and no surge, the price is agreed before the trip and does not move afterwards.
  • Pay in córdobas or US dollars. Cash is normal here and most drivers cannot take a card.

What Blink does

  • Rides around San Juan del Sur and out to the beaches, arranged over WhatsApp in English or Spanish.
  • Airport transfers from Managua and from Liberia in Costa Rica, booked ahead with a fixed price.
  • Longer routes — Granada, Rivas, the San Jorge ferry, the Peñas Blancas border, Popoyo and Tola.
  • We will also just answer the question. If a taxi off the street is the cheaper and more sensible option for what you are doing, we will say so.

Tell us what you need

Message us in English or Spanish. We answer by hand, so you get a real person and a real price rather than an automated reply.
