Transfer from San Juan del Sur to Popoyo and Tola

Popoyo and the Tola beaches are the next stretch of surf up the coast, and getting there without your own vehicle is genuinely awkward. This is a board-carrying route and we plan it that way.

Boards and bags

  • Tell us how many boards and what length. It decides which vehicle goes, and it is the most common reason a transfer turns up unable to do the job.
  • Bring your own board bags or straps if you have them — we would rather your equipment travelled the way you trust.

The roads

  • Access to the Tola beaches varies a lot by road and by season, and some of the last stretches are rough.
  • Tell us the exact beach or property, not just "Popoyo" — the difference between two of them can be a long detour.
  • In the wet season some approaches are harder than others. We will say honestly if a drop-off point is not sensible on the day.

Coming back

  • There is very little passing transport out there. Book the return when you book the outbound unless you are certain of your plans.
