How the exchange works

The normal arrangement is exchange: you hand over your empty canister and get a full one back, paying only for the gas.
If you have no canister yet — a new house, a first rental — the first one costs more because you are paying a deposit on the cylinder itself.
Tell us which you need when you message. It is the difference between two quite different prices and it is much easier sorted out before the driver arrives.
Have the empty ready and accessible. The exchange takes a minute if it is by the door and considerably longer if it is behind a locked gate.

Why people have it brought

A full canister is heavy and awkward, and much of San Juan del Sur is uphill from anywhere selling gas.
It never runs out at a convenient time, and a kitchen with no gas is not a problem that waits until morning.
